LIFT 2019: Vishal Kumar | Data science for arts and culture
Vishal Kumar is an academic, analyst, artist and entrepreneur born and raised in London. He is interested in technology for arts and culture, the science of cities, and uses data in a creative and impactful way, particularly data visualisation, information design & generative art. He uses a combination of data science and visualization, machine learning and computer vision, urban economics and social media analytics having written several blog posts and co-authored an academic paper. Vishal works as a cultural data scientist for a range of public and private cultural institutions, which includes Waltham Forest Council for the London Borough of Culture programme, and is an Associate at Futurecity. Vishal is also interested in championing arts and culture through entrepreneurship.
